GSEEP-Grassroots Socio-Economic Empowerment Programme
(AN INITIATIVE OF THE ADAMAWA STATE GOVERNMENT)
The GSEEP programme is made up of 3 projects viz:
1. TSAC – Technical Skill Acquisition Centre ( Formerly VTTC – Vocational Technology Training Centre)
There were initially 3 of these centres – one in each Senatorial District of the State viz – Adamawa North Senatorial District, Adamawa Central Senatorial District and Adamawa South Senatorial District.
These first 3 centres had a combined initial intake of over 600 trainees.
The centres have now been increased to 6, with a combined population of about 1,800 trainees.
The centres are equipped with modern engines and machines to facilitate training in Mechanical technology, Electrical Technology and Automobile Technology, and are run by a team of Germans from T.T.S.
2. FSAC – Farming Skills Acquisition Centre – this centre carries out activities which embrace every area of farming with particular adaptation to the Nigerian environment. It is made up of:
AADIL – Adamawa Agricultural Development Investment Limited – a Limited Liability Company, which carries out the following activities:
3. LASD – Local Apprenticeship Skills Development – functions more like the National Directorate of Employment (N.D.E.) scheme. GSEEP locates “Master Trainers” and attaches trainees to them for thorough training in specified trades and vocations.
4. Human Resources Development – This section concentrates mainly on developing resource persons, known as “Special Assistants” (SA’s), who in turn serve as training agents for other up-coming trainees. There are currently about 15,000 SA’s involved in the scheme.
